Basehor, Tonganoxie VFWs plan benefit for local man
A Bingo and Brunch Fundraiser in planned this weekend to help a local man with a traumatic brain injury.
The Basehor and Tonganoxie VFW posts have planned an event at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Tonganoxie VFW to benefit Ronnie Wishon, a 52-year-old Tonganoxie resident who was injured in a car accident. Wilson also lost his wife to brain cancer and is now homeless. The VFWs and Wishon’s caregivers, Carla and Jim Butler, hope to help Wilson regain his independence.
Sunday’s event will include 10 games of bingo followed by a “blackout” bingo round, a silent auction, a 50/50 ticket drawing and brunch.
- Ronnie Wishon, left, sits Monday with his caregiver, Carla Butler, in downtown Tonganoxie. Wishon has suffered three traumatic brain injuries, but he credits his faith for helping him through the challenges he’s faced. Wishon, a Tonganoxie resident, recently moved to the area to be closer to his specialists at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
