The Chieftain girls matched their 2013 performance, coming in fourth out of 37 teams in the varsity blue race. THS combined for five top-100 individual finishes in a field of 282 runners. Freshman Emma Campbell led the way, coming in 21st with a time of 17 minutes, 1 second. Other Chieftains in the top 100 were Emily Chambers (40th, 17:27.7), Emily Williams (57th, 17:55.2), Mia Bond (86th, 18:12.6) and Isabella Behm (98th, 18:23.8).

Tressa Walker (18:52.8) and Sophia Wetta (19:03.1) rounded out the team’s day. The THS girls finished with a team score of 264. Maranatha Christian Academy won the team title with a score of 158.

On the boys side, the Chieftains improved two spots from 2013 with a seventh-place performance in a field of 274. Like the girls, they had five runners in the top-100. Ethan Phillips was the team’s top finisher, coming in 22nd with a time of 17:53.3. Drew Cook (17:59.5) finished just three spots behind Phillips, while Dylan Staatz (18:59.9), Garrett French (19:02.2) and Brad Andrews (19:19.1) came in 80th, 81st and 99th, respectively.

Chandler Hamman (19:53.9) and Justin Patrick (20:12.2) also represented the Chieftains. THS finished with a team score of 261. Grain Valley (Mo.) dominated the team ranks, winning the title with a score of 93 — 62 points better than runner-up Maranatha. Complete results for all races are available here.

Both Chieftain squads will be back on the road at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for the Maranatha Invitational. The boys took second and the girls third at last year’s meet.
