The Basehor-Linwood powerlifting teams continued their dominating ways Saturday when the opened the 2015 season at McLouth.

The girls, seven-time defending state team won its 39th straight meet, scoring 120 points. Second-place Tonganoxie had 36 points. The boys, five-time defending state champions, won their sixth consecutive meet, scoring 113 points to second-place Topeka’s 64.

In the girls competition, Cassie Beattie and Katey Trower both earned lifter of the meet honors. Beattie swept the bench, squat and clean competitions in the 105 class, with her total lifts of 475 pounds beating second place by 135 pounds. Trower swept all three lifts in the 148 class, and her total of 625 pounds was 130 pounds better than second place.

Sierra Smith also swept all three lifts on her way to winning the 140 class. Other class winners for Basehor-Linwood were Emilie Crutchfield (114), Britney Smith (123) and Courtney Robinson (132).

Individual event winners were Mariah Olivia (114 bench), Cassie Tucker (165 squat) and Kailey Drennon (180 bench and clean).

On the boys side, James Wilson earned lifter of the meet for winning the 156 class with a total of 820 pounds for the three lifts.

Alex Elliot (148) and Dean Cochran (173) also won individual titles.

Individual event winners were Tyler Miller (123 squat), Easton Noe (148 bench and squat), Austin Ettinger (156 clean), Tyler Kendrick (165 clean), Austin Roberts (198 clean) and Austin Salazar (242 squat and clean).

The teams head to Royal Valley on Saturday for their next meet, then come home to play host to the 2015 Bobcat Power meet on Jan. 31.
