Tonganoxie High School celebrating homecoming

Tonganoxie High School will have its homecoming coronation before Friday’s football game against Lansing. Festivities started Monday with Festive Pajama Day. Students were encouraged to cozy up in holiday pajamas for the first school day of the week.
Tuesday was Holiday Switch Day, when students were to dress as their favorite holidays.
Today is Season Swap Day. Each grade represents a season. Freshmen are winter blue, sophomores are spring green, juniors are summer yellow and seniors are fall orange.
Thursday is Stars and Stripes Day” when students are encouraged to wear red, white and blue or patriotic gear.
Friday is School Spirit Holiday.” Everyone dresses in school colors to celebrate the biggest “holiday” of the year: Homecoming.
There will be prizes for the best-dressed guy and girl every day during spirit days. Winners will receive free entrance to the homecoming dance and a reserved parking spot for the homecoming game. THS will also have a paper, rock, scissors competition today, with the winner receiving those prizes.
The homecoming parade will makes it way by the middle school and elementary school campus starting around 1:45 p.m. The pep rally at Fourth and Bury streets will start at 2:15 p.m., with the coronation at 6:30 p.m. at Beatty Field.
This year’s king candidates are Archer Grier , Luke Breuer, Ridge Lobb, Jacob Morenz, Clayton Crookham, Merek Davenport and Hunter Nihart. Queen candidates are Kalea Baldock, Emerson Maslak, Addison Blanka, Lila Carlton, Autumn Wilson, Adalyn Harder and Emma Lorfing.
The dance theme will be Midnight Memories: A New Year’s Eve Celebration and it will go from 8-10:30 p.m. There also will be a large balloon drop at 10 p.m.
