Tall Tale Qualifier and Workshop set for Sept. 19

Participants at Saturday’s Tall Tale Tryouts and Storytelling event gather for the inaugural qualifier in Tonganoxie. The state competition will be next April in Downs.It’s that time of year again — when the tall tales grow taller and the laughs grow louder.
The Kansas Storytelling Festival Tall Tale Qualifier and Workshop will be 2-8 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Tonganoxie Community Historical Society, 201 Washington St.
Bil Lepp will be on hand for the Northeast Kansas Tall Tale Qualifier.
The free Tall Tale Workshop will run from 2-3:30 p.m. During that time, Lepp will share tips and tricks for crafting unforgettable stories. Then, at 5 p.m., it’s time for the Tall Tale Competition. After an intermission — featuring eats from the 1866 Food Truck — settle in for an evening of laughter as Bil Lepp takes the stage with his signature wit, stories and comic genius.
