Tonganoxie FCCLA nabs big awards at nationals in DC

Tonganoxie High School Family, Careeer and Community Leaders of America members participate at nationals eaerlir this month in Washington, D.C. Tonganoxie Family, Career and Community Leaders of America brought home top awards recontly at FCCLA Nationals in Washington, D.C.

Lauren Breuer and Gemma Halsa placed fourth nationally with a gold medal in at Digital Stories for Change Level 2.

Natalie Loving and Addy Schooler placed 10th nationally with a gold medal in Nutrition and Wellness Level 3.

Tonganoxie High also earned silver medals in three events: Karsyn Platt for Chapter in Review Display Level 2, Hayden McMeans for Chapter Service Display Level 3 and Kalea Baldock and Ruby Breuer for Digital Stories for Change Level 3.

Three THS members also are part of the Kansas Peer Education Team for Community Service: Lauren Breuer, Hayden McMeans and Lila O’Hare. They will travel throughout Kansas educating others on how to bring community service opportunities to their chapters. Josie Roe will serve as the District E-East President. She will lead all district meetings this year.

THS members also had opportunities to see the sights while in Washington, D.C. They visited Spy Museum, the Smithsonian National Zoo, the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court and the Botanical Gardens. THS members went on a Kansas delegation river cruise and enjoyed a Capitol Tour from Tongie FCCLA alum Blake Phillips, who works in the office of U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann. Members also attended the FCCLA opening ceremony and the the Kansas state meeting.in addition to attending the opening ceremony and Kansas State Meeting.
