Tonganoxie Days to have bevy of activities next month

Tonganoxie Days has attracted bands from across the area to perform at the event in recent years. The event is the second Saturday of June each year.This year’s Tonganoxie Days will feature a new stage for live entertainment at Gallagher Park and other activities complementing the annual festival.
The annual festival will be June 13 in the downtown area. The Tonganoxie Library Run also will start at 7:30 a.m. near the library and the Tonganoxie Arts Council and Community National Bank will sponsor the Tonganoxie Street Art Competition from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. that day in the 500 block of Fourth Street. There will be 25 spots and the deadline is Friday to sign up. There ill be $800 in prizes for older participants (16 and older) and $170 in youth prizes (12-15 years old and 11 and younger).
The registration fee is $10 for the two younger divisions and $20 for each individual or team of two in the oldest division. Participants will have a 4×6 sidewalk space for eac entry.
Artists will receive a 48-piece set of chalkand the theme will be patriotic in honor of the 250th birthday of the United States.

Tonganoxie Days will run 9 a.m.-11 p.m. with a wide range of activities and entertainment for all ages.
The event will feature a curated selection of craft vendors showcasing handmade goods, local art, and unique retail items. A variety of food trucks will be on-site throughout the day, providing diverse dining options from breakfast through dinner. Attendees can participate in the aforementioned library run, along with yoga in the park during the morning hours.
The festival will also include a car show highlighting classic, custom, and specialty vehicles. There will be a dedicated youths’ activity area, including games and interactive entertainment. Live music performances will take place throughout the evening.
And, there will be a miniature golf course set up for visitors to the festival.
In addition, this year’s Tonganoxie Recreation Commission Summer Kickoff will coincide with Tonganoxie Days. The event will be 1-4 p.m. at Chieftain Park and will feature an Aloha theme.
There will be Traci’s Shaved Ice, Dole Whip, water slides, giant beach balls, facepainting, a mini volcano experience, free hot dogs and a seashell hunt.
