Lansing man convicted of two counts of aggravated endangering a child

The Leavenworth County Justice Center at 601 S. Third St., LeavenworthA 22-year-old Lansing man has been convicted of two counts of aggravated endangering a child.
Burnis L. Williams pleaded no contest to the charges on Thursday in Leavenworth County District Court. The court accepted his plea and found Williams guilty, according to a release from the office of Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson.
Per court documents, a Lansing police officer responded to a Lansing home after receiving a report of neglect involving a male juvenile who was less than 12 months old. During the investigation, officers reviewed home security videos.
The video showed Williams picking up the victim by the victim’s clothing and carrying the victim upstairs while the victim was crying. Williams was seen dropping the victim on the floor.
Another video showed Williams aggressively placing the victim into a bassinet while the victim was crying.
“Protecting those who cannot protect themselves is a top priority for this office,” Thompson said. “If you see something, say something. Contact your local law enforcement office or another trusted source.”
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 30, 2026.
