Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Administration Building at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds, 405 W. Fourth St. in Tonganoxie.

Commissioner Mike Stieben, who represents the Fifth District (which includes Tonganoxie), proposed that the meeting last until 9 p.m. Fellow commissioners approved the motion at last week’s meeting in Leavenworth. Residents will have three minutes each to share their concerns.

Stieben also proposed a countywide vote whether to approve the data center, but the motion failed, 2-2. Stieben and Mike Smith voted in favor, Jeff Culbertson and Vanessa Reid voted against and Willie Dove was absent.

Citzens Against Bluestem continue to have a presence at meetings and on social media voicing concerns about the massive data center and urgin g officials to slow the process on a topic that has become a national debate as the midterms loom with the general election in November.
