Tonganoxie Elementary School students check out the Kansas City Chiefs Training Lab on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, outside TES.

The Kansas City Chiefs team members might still have been in Las Vegas on Monday celebrating their thrilling Super Bowl victory, but some Tonganoxie Elementary School students got to train like the champions that day.

The KC Chiefs Mobile Training Lab was outside Tonganoxie Elementary School on Monday. Staff with the lab were at TES throughout the day for students who raised money for the American Heart Association during the 2022-23 school year through the school’s Kids Heart Challenge fundraiser.

TES physical education instructor Diane Titterington said the school “won” the lab by being picked from the schools that had beaten their previous year’s fundraising amounts. TES first- through sixth-graders (188) who raised donations last year rotated through the lab from 8:10 a.m.-2:35 p.m. Monday.

TES currently is conducting its 2023-24 American Heart Association fundraiser. Last school year TES raised more than $20,000 for the AHA.
