The longtime USD 464 board member announced that he was stepping down, effectively immediately, at the end of Monday’s meeting. Bothwell said his departure is due to his family moving out of the district.

Bothwell served for more than seven years on the board. For many years he also served as school board president. He first was elected in 2017 and won re-election in 2021. The board will select a replacement after a call for interested applicants. His term expires in January 2026.

Bothwell also served on the Tonganoxie Planning Commission in the mid-2000s before running for school board years later.
