Inmate who attacked another inmate sentenced to more than 2 years

The Leavenworth County Justice Center at 601 S. Third St., LeavenworthA 42-year-old inmate who attacked another inmate inside a Leavenworth County prison has been sentenced to additional prison time.
On Jan. 9, 2024, Tieller M. Adams knowingly and recklessly caused bodily harm to an inmate inside the Lansing Correctional Facility, according to a release from the office of Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson. Adams used his hands to strike his victim several times. The attack happened inside a cell house on the central compound. As a result of the attack, the victim was transported to a Kansas City hospital for treatment due to the injuries sustained during the altercation. As a result of the beating, the victim suffered multiple broken bones to his face, requiring surgery.
On Friday, Adams was sentenced to 26 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections on the charge of aggravated battery. Friday’s sentence was ordered to run consecutive to all prior cases.
“This office takes all acts of violence seriously, and we will continue to prosecute violent offenders to the fullest extent of the law to ensure that our correctional facilities remain secure environments for both staff and inmate,” Thompson said.
