Tonganoxie school board approves personnel recommendations

The district recently denied a space rental request from Tonganoxie United Methodist Church to use the professional development room at the USD 464 Administrative Center for services temporarily while renovations take place in the foyer at the church.

Contract/work agreements were approved for Dallas Castillo, Emily Celeen and Emma Schmidt, Tonganoxie Elementary School special education paraprofessionals; Krystal Temple, Tonganoxie High School secretary/bookkeeper and THS dance and cheer assistant coach; Aaron Hermstedt, THS math teacher for 2025-26; Amelia Schroeder, THS English/language arts teacher for 2025-26; Susan Better, THS special education teacher for 2025-26; Beth Shartz, Tonganoxie Middle School vocational agriculture elective teacher for 2025-26; Dave Schmidt, TMS assistant cross country coach for 2025-26; and Richard Agnew, TMS assistant boys basketball coach for 2025-26.

Resignations were accepted for Rose Hurla, THS math teacher; JoBeth Knetter, TMS special education paraprofessional effective May 16; Nick Johnson, THS boys assistant basketball coach; Shayla Swaner, TES special education paraprofessional, effective May 5; Kaydin Brown, TES special education paraprofessional, effective May 2; Anna Bridges, TES special education paraprofessional, effective May 17; Donna Flinn, TES special education paraprofessional, effective July 1; and Krisha Callaghan, TES special education teacher, effective May 19.

Transfers were approved for Vanessa Kietzman, THS student to nutrition to THS custodian; and Chelsea Schrant, TES fourth-grade teacher to TES title math teacher.
