The Tonganoixe Public Library will host a special bingo event from noon-2:30 p.m. Aug. 15 when all the prizes will be live plants or plant- and garden-related!

Players will have 10 rounds of play, including special rounds, and the library will provide snacks and drinks too. It’s free to play, but those who are interested must register in advance by calling the library at 913-845-3281.

Plant Bingo is for adults and those 14 years and older. Space is limited, so call to reserve a spot soon!

Chieftain Cafe food program resumes later afternoon hours next week

With the start of school in Tonganoxie coming up quickly, the hours for the Chieftain Cafe will resume its normal time on the first day of school for the Tonganoxie School District on Tuesday. Youths up to age 18 can receive a free sandwich, drink and snack after school from 3:15-4:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 2:15-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

Photograph art display at the library

The library is excited to share a photograph art display from Bekah Stewart Kibler.

When you stop in, peruse photos focused on Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence where you’ll see all aspects of the cemetery throughout the seasons. The photos will be on display through Aug. 24. Kibler is passionate about preserving family histories, libraries and manuscripts.

In her free time, she can often be found wandering cemeteries and photographing the journey. She will also be our guest at this month’s Death Cafe at 4 p.m. Aug. 24. 24.
