Rodeo and 4-H exhibits, deep-fried everything and turkey legs at food stands and rides and carnival games galore were available again for this year’s installment of the Leavenworth County Fair.

There also were reminders of the 100-year milestone: a new mural on fencing near the Administration Building, a backdrop for winning livestock photos that included a special 100-year logo and commemorative 4-H challenge coins, one side with the 4-H logo and the other with a special Leavenworth County Fair 100-year logo.

It also was a week in which Mother Nature helped make the celebration special. Temperatures at times felt like fall and it wasn’t quite as hot during the day for August in Kansas to which folks in these parts are sometimes accustomed.

At this year’s mutton busting, Riggin Tarwater won the 5 and younger division, while Grayson Waters Clevenger won the 6-7 division. The mini bull riding champion was Truet Deweese and the junior bull riding champion was Cooper Smith.
