Our Leavenworth County Fair started Tuesday and runs through Saturday in Tonganoxie. The Fair is celebrating with a theme of: “100 Years of Growing Together.” Amazing to think it has been 100 years! If you haven’t been to the fair, or it’s been awhile, I encourage you to go out and take a look around. There’s something for everyone. You can take in all the exhibits, food court, commercial exhibits, grandstand events, or maybe take the kids to the carnival.

For myself, the favorite part of the fair is the 4-H and FFA exhibits. These young people are the future of are county. Many of them spend hours and hours working on their projects. The fair is their super bowl — come cheer them on! It doesn’t matter whether it’s a rock collection or livestock; these youth are learning responsibility and work ethic that will follow them the rest of their lives. I’ve had the opportunity to see my past club member’s children now competing.

It’s so refreshing to see the friendships that are formed, renewed, and strengthened by shared

interest in our agricultural heritage. People come together from all corners of the counties. In

some cases generation after generation. So I’m inviting you to come out and enjoy one of

America’s traditions, the 100th annual Leavenworth County Fair.
