Forecasts call for the high to be in the 80s the rest of the week.

The fair officially kicked off Tuesday and the annual fair parade through downtown Tonganoxie was the first big event of the week. From there it was time for activities at the fairgrounds, including the carnival and rides.

Arm bands for the amusement rides are available for $30 and will be honored 6-10:30 p.m. Friday and 5:30-10 p.m. Saturday. Armband sales start 30 minutes before armband time each night. The Monster Bus Paintball attraction will be offered 5-10 p.m. on weekdays during the fair and then 1-10 p.m. Aug. 1, the final day of the fair a week from Saturday.

Here are attractions and highlights each day, alongside the carnival and paintball experience:

Today, July 29

• 10 a.m., 4-H/FFA and Open Class Poultry Showmanship judging followed by the Poultry Show (Poultry Barn)

• 10 a.m., 4-H/FFA and Open Class Sheep Show and Showmanship judging (Livestock Show Arena)

• 1 p.m., 4-H Bucket Calf Fitting and Showmanship Judging (Livestock Show Arena)

• 4 p.m., 4-H/FFA Open Class Market and Other Goat Show (Show Arena)

Thursday

• 8 a.m., 4-H/FFA and Open Class Rabbit Show and Showmanship Judging (Rabbit Barn)

• 8 a.m., 4-H/FFA and Open Class Beef Cattle Show and Showmanship Judging (Livestock Show Arena)

• 4 p.m., 4-H/FFA and Open ClassDairy Goat Show and Showmanship Judging (Livestock Show Arena)

• 7 p.m., Rodeo Gold, Grandstand. Gates open at 6 p.m.. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for youths 6-12 and free for anyone 5 and younger for the rodeo.

Friday, July 31

• 8 a.m., Livestock Showmanship Round Robin (Livestock Show Arena)

• 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Senior Day at the Fair (Under the Big Top). The Leavenworth County Council on Aging sponsors the event. Admission is free for seniors. there will be food, bingo and music, including a performance by Daysia Reneau. Round Trip Transportation from the Council on Aging, 711 Marshall St., Suite 100, in Leavenworth, will be provided for $5 per person. The bus will leave the COA office at 9 a.m.

• 10:30 a.m., Livestock Judging Contest, open to anyone (Livestock Show Arena)

• 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Ag Challenge of Champions (4-H Office). A skill-a-thon to challenge overall agriculture knowledge. The event is open to everyone.

• Noon-1 p.m., Pie baking contest entries accepted at the Administration Building.

• 1 p.m., Pie Baking Contest

• 4:30-6:30 p.m., Buyers Reception (Livestock Show Arena). Dinner is served to 2025 Livestock buyers.

• 6-6:15 p.m., 4-H Spirit Awards, Ag Challenge of Champions and 4-H Scholarships announced (Show Arena)

• 7 p.m., Rodeo Gold’s Mutton Bustin and Mini Bulls. Gates open at 6 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for youths 6-12 and free for anyone 5 and younger for the rodeo.
