The water park officially opened Saturday for the summer.

Denise Bixby at the water park said Tuesday that there were only about 80 visitors on Saturday.

“it was a cold start,” she said. “It was pretty chilly.”

But attendance started to pick up as the weather got warmer.

“Yesterday we had 300 people by 4 o’clock,” Bixby said Tuesday. “It was terribly busy.”

In total, the water park had 655 visitors during the three-day weekend. That included 364 on Monday.

Hours of operation at the pool are 1-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-7 p.m. Sunday. Adult swim is noon-1 p.m. each day and swimming lessons take place during the morning hours on some weekdays.

The Tongie Tidal Waves swim team also will practice at the water park and will host some morning meets during the summer.

Pool parties also take place during the evenings, from 8-10 p.m. daily aside from Sundays, when they are 7-9 p.m. Bixby said pool party reservations have been filling up.

When August rolls around, the water park has modified hours, but stays open through Labor Day Weekend.
