Mildred Marshall

Dec 9, 2008

Services were Tuesday, Dec. 9 for Mildred Lee Marshall, 85, Basehor, at Basehor United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Marshall died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, surrounded by family at her home.
Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor.
She was born Aug. 1, 1923, to James H. and Mabel C. Kirkman in Kansas City, Kan. She attended grade and junior high school in Kansas City, Kan. In 1938, her parents then moved to Basehor, where she graduated from Basehor High School in 1941. On Aug. 24, 1941, she married George Marshall Jr. at Basehor Methodist Church. She loved being a homemaker and raising her three children. Later, after her children were in school, she went to work at the college at Fort Leavenworth and enjoyed the experience very much. When her husband retired, she quit her job so they could do some traveling. Their trip of a lifetime was a caravan to Alaska and back home again in their R.V.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George S. Marshall, in July 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Marshall, Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Roger L. Marshall, Farley, Mo.; one daughter, Jayne Akob of Livingston, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lois Smith, West Grove, Pa., and Shirley Stevenson, St. Mary’s, Fla.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the church to help fund the hearing assistance program.
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, (913) 422-4074, handled arrangements.
