Funeral services for Dennis Edward Edmonds, 66, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Vinland Cemetery.
Mr. Edmonds died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at his home.
He was born March 14, 1942, in Baldwin City, the son of Kenneth and Mae Harmon Edmonds. He was a lifelong Baldwin City resident and attended Baldwin schools.
Mr. Edmonds raised quarter horses on his farm in Baldwin City and was a heavy equipment operator many years.
He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, International Operations Engineers Local No. 101 and Chet Atkins Appreciation Society.
He enjoyed music and played guitar.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Rider, of the home; a sister, Barbara Dyer and husband Glenn, Ocala, Fla.; two nieces, Brenda Pecora and Tracy Kurty, both of Florida; three stepchildren, Denise Pickens and Deborah Rider, both of Lawrence, and Dennis Rider, Gardner; eight stepgrandchildren, Dawn, Dustin, Darcy, Deena, Jason, Levi, Joshua and Jake; and his dog, Cammie Mae.
Friends may call Monday from noon to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Humane Society.
