Selma McMahon

Services for Selma Marie McMahon, 90, Piper, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Leavenworth.
Mrs. McMahon died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Parkway Care Nursing Home, Edwardsville.
She was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Leavenworth and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. McMahon worked for many years as a florist, primarily for Edison’s Florist in Kansas City, Kan. She was also an accomplished and creative artist, enjoying oil painting and crafts of all kinds. Her art can be found all over the world.
Her husband of 58 years, John L. McMahon Jr., died in 1996. A granddaughter died in 2002.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Hatzenbuhler, Morehead, Minn., and Jeanette Rice, Piper; a son, John L. McMahon III, Piper; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Crossroads Hospice or to Wolcott Baptist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
