Mary Land

Services for Mary Elizabeth “Sugar” Jakobe Land, 76, will be at noon Thursday, July 31, at Amos Family Chapel. Burial will be in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens at 75th and Kansas Highway 7.
Mrs. Land died Monday, July 28, 2008. She had a battle with cancer for the past year and a half.
She was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of John and Teresa Jakobe. Mrs. Land moved in September 1958 to Shawnee.
She was an active member of American Legion Auxiliary No. 327, a member of the 40/8 La Femms No. 1510 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 7397.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Daniel; five sons, Mark, Paul, Steve, Fred and Hal; and three daughters, Sandra Morris, Ellen Settles and Teresa Vest; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eileen Jakobe.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the funeral chapel, where recitation of the rosary will be at 6 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to American Legion Auxiliary No. 327, 40/8 La Femms No. 1510 or VFW Auxiliary No. 7397.
