Wanda Mathews
Mass of Christian Burial for Wanda Lee Mathews, 78, Shawnee, was Saturday, Nov. 8, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Burial in the St. John’s Cemetery, Lenexa.
Mrs. Mathews died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Mo.
She was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Bonner Springs, the daughter of Huron A. and Margaret (Oelschlaeger) Lingo.
Mrs. Mathews and her husband, James, opened the Carpet Corner in 1968 in the Kansas City metropolitan area. She retired in 2004.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Her husband, James J. Mathews, died May 29, 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Hipsher, Kansas City, Kan., Janice Mathews, Parkville, Mo., and Barbara Earp, Lenexa; three sons, James M. Mathews, Eudora, Kan., Jeffery Mathews, Smithville, Mo., and Michael Mathews, Shawnee; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
