Thomas Hall

Graveside services with military honors for Thomas Francis Hall of Port Jervis, N.Y., were Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Orange County Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, N.Y.
Mr. Hall died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at his home.
He was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Easton, Kan., the son of Joseph and Mary Cahill Hall.
Mr. Hall was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served the United States from 1939 to the 1950s and was in President Truman’s Presidential Guard Unit. He flew on the Sacred Cow, which was President Truman’s plane. Thomas also held the highest rank of an enlisted soldier, commander sergeant major.
He was an active member of Roosa-Fleming Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 161, Port Jervis. He had been a 56-year member of the VFW, joining in 1947 in Adelphi, Alaska. He also sold ”Buddy Poppies” each year for the VFW.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen Thompson and Jeanette Porter, both of Kansas City, Kan.; and close friends Floyd Babcock and Dawn Amato of Sparrow Bush, N.Y.
Cremation was at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, Pa.
