Graveside services for Herman Eugene McAfee, 83, Coffeyville, will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at McLouth Cemetery, McLouth.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Fourth and Delaware, Tonganoxie.
Mr. McAfee died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Windson Place in Coffeyville.
He was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Winchester, the son of Lacy Herman and Lydia Marie (Dixon) McAfee. He attended school at Valley Falls until the age of 17, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served our country from 1942-1946 as Gunner’s Mate, Petty Officer 3rd Class. On July 15, 1944 he married Esther Van Druff in Valley Falls, KS. He was employed as a Rancher, working in Jefferson County, Madison, Longton, Sedan and Independence and Pawhuska, Okla., until his retirement in 1997. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Caney.
Survivors include his wife, Esther, of the home; two daughters, Gloria McAfee, Hugo, Okla., and Judith Whitson, Coffeyville; two sons, Richard McAfee, Caney, and Kenneth McAfee, Madill, Okla.; his siblings, James, Marge, Donald, Norma, Eldon, Russell and Sharon; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
