Lawrence Evinger
Memorial services for Lawrence O. Evinger, 86, of Eudora, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday October 30, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:30 PM.
Lawrence passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Medicalodges, Eudora.
He was born Aug. 22, 1922 in Osawatomie to Elmer F. and Carrie G. Skiles Evinger.
After attending high school in Osawatomie, Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army, from Nov. 19, 1942 to Nov. 30, 1945. After WWII, he was in the National Guard. Before entering the Army he was in the Civilian Corp., from 1939-1940. Lawrence later married Meda M. McRoberts on March 23, 1945. She survives, of the home
They made their home in the Osawatomie area until 1964 when they moved to Eudora, Kansas. Lawrence worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for many years and later worked as a painter at Kansas University. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Lawrence enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry; five brothers, Nathan E. Evinger, Labon Elsworth Evinger, Claude Edwin Evinger, Roscoe LaVerne Evinger, Herman Elmer Evinger; and three sisters, Iva Maude Davis, Charlotte Gertrude Kates, and Winifred Hatcher.
He is survived by his wife, Meda, Eudora; sons Terry Lee Evinger, David Lawrence Evinger, and Rodney Ray Evinger, Eudora; a daughter, Karen Sue Evinger, of Lawrence; and 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
