Virginia Mier

Services for Virginia C. Mier, 74, Merriam, were Friday, Sept. 12, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Entombment was at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Mier died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at her home.
She was born May 11, 1934, in Shawnee, the daughter of Orvis and Evelyn Covell.
Mrs. Mier was a volunteer for more than 24 years at the Shawnee Community Services.
She married Gerald Mier on Oct. 10, 1959, in Aransas Pass, Texas. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Gerald Mier Jr., Merriam, and Samuel J. Mier, Leavenworth; three sisters, Mary Cary, Grandview, Mo., Evelyn VanKemseke, Shawnee, and Velma Jeanne Tiner, Humble, Texas; a brother, George W. Covell, Stillwater, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Shawnee Community Services, sent in care of the funeral home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203.
