Kenneth Fricke
Services for Kenneth E. Fricke, 58, of Great Bend, were Tuesday at First Church of God in Great Bend. Burial was Tuesday at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Mankato.
Mr. Fricke died Saturday, March 28, 2009, in Great Bend.
He was born Oct. 6, 1950, in Hastings, Neb., the son of Richard Eugene and Burdetta Ann Shields Fricke. He graduated with Hastings High School’s Class of 1969. He also graduated from McCook Junior College and attended Kearney State College at Kearney, Neb.
He worked several years at St. Regis lumberyard in Hastings before moving to Great Bend in the fall of 1980. He worked a short time at a lumberyard in Hoisington before he started to work for the city of Great Bend. He worked for a year with the Street Department and then moved on the Water Pollution Department, where he worked until his death. His 27th anniversary with the city was on March 23.
He was a cross country coach for two years at Ellinwood High School. He was the Tiny Tots Sunday school teacher at the First Church of God in Great Bend, and was also an artist.
He married Alicia Andrews in 1980. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Ryan, Eudora; his mother, Burdetta, of Hastings; two sisters, Cathy Mitzelfelt and Cindy Fricke, both of Hastings; and two brothers, Rick, of Trumbull, Neb., and Kevin, Miami.
