Thomas McGivern

There will be a celebration of the life Thomas Joseph McGivern, 57, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at De Soto VFW Post 6654. He died July 31, 2009, at his De Soto home after a three-year fight with cancer.
Mr. McGivern was born April, 6, 1952, in Kansas City, Kan., to William Lloyd McGivern and Patricia Eleanor O’Brien. He graduated from Argentine High School in 1970 and worked for 38 years for Russell Steel Products Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Catherine Rebar McGivern; of the home; two sons, Bart McGivern and wife, Tia, and Matthew; two brothers, Mike and his wife, Becky, Pampa, Texas, and Bill and his wife, Lana, Farley, Mo.; and a sister, Sue McGivern, Kansas City, Mo.
Memorial donations can be made to the Kansas City Hospice, Cancer Action, or Safe Harbor Prison Dogs of Bonner Springs.
