Mary Seward

Shawnee — Services for Marl Alice Seward, 84, of Shawnee, were Saturday, Dec. 19, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Seward died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Lakeview Village, Lenexa.
She was born June 22, 1925, in Parkville, Mo., the daughter of Thomas Arthur and Katy Mae (Behringer) Johnson.
Besides raising her two children, Mrs. Seward worked in the Sears Catalog Department for many years and in later life stayed active by creating gifts for her friends and family with her multifaceted skills in quilting, crocheting and sewing. She was an active participant in the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club, with her husband, Carl.
Mrs. Seward volunteered at the Shawnee Community Service Center and helped out at the Argentine Soup Kitchen through her church, along with other community volunteer groups.
She was a loyal member of Hillcrest Christian Church as long as she was able.
Survivors include her two children, Larry Seward and Kathryn Miller; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Klamm, Basehor; and a sister-in-law, Alice Johnson, Lenexa.
