Mass of Christian Burial for Richard L. Hopson, 69, Eudora, were Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. Graveside services with military honors will following in Holy Family Cemetery.
Mr. Hopson died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Lafayette, La., the son of James Richard and Florence Brinkley Hopson.
Mr. Hopson graduated from Harrah High School in Harrah, Okla. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a chief petty officer for 20 years. He worked as a supervisor for Jack Cooper Transport and retired in 2000.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lenexa and Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Hopson married Delores Burnett on May 27, 1961, in Lenexa. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, Scott and wife Tina, Jim and wife Shelly, and Bob and wife Melissa, all of Eudora, and Kurt and wife Patricia, Schweinfurt, Germany; and five grandchildren, Bo, Jillian, Alec, Dylan and Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gale Ruby.
The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
