Gladys Hudson

A celebration of the life of Gladys M. (Baker) Hutson, 93, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the Rose Garden Room (Heritage Place) at Lakeview Village, 9100 Park, Lenexa.
Mrs. Hutson died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009.
She was born May 17, 1915, in Miami County, the daughter of John and Anna Cornelius.
She moved to Topeka in 1929 and graduated from Topeka High School in 1933.
In 1937, she married Samuel P. Baker. They had three daughters. He died in 1970. She retired after 24 years as secretary at State Street Elementary School in Topeka.
In 1977, Gladys married Marvin S. Hutson and moved to the Kansas City area, living in Prairie Village, Overland Park and finally moving in 1993 to Lakeview Village in Lenexa. He died in 1995.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Vogel, Claremont, Calif., Helen Bliege, Overland Park, and Kathy Thornburg, Columbia, Mo.; a stepson Harold Hutson, Kissemmee, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Nancy Bridge, Overland Park; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Cross-Line Community Outreach, 736 Shawnee Ave., Kansas City, KS 66105, which serves the poor and homeless in the Greater Kansas City area.
