Emily Swedo

Funeral Mass for Emily Jean Swedo, 87, of Shawnee, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Swedo died Saturday, July 4, 2009 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 15, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan., and was a lifelong area resident. She most recently was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and had been a longtime active member in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Altar Society and was also a member of St. John’s Senior’s Club.
She and her late husband owned and operated Swedo’s Watch Repair and Jewelry Shop for many years in downtown Kansas City, Kan.
Her husband, Charles F. Swedo Sr., died in 1997, and their son, Charles F. Swedo Jr., died in 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Prince, and husband, Don, Shawnee; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Swedo, Tonganoxie; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and her very close friend, Dorothy, Barbara and Evelyn.
The family will receive friends at the visitation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the church. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of
