Bonner Springs — Cremation memorial services for Dr. William D. Miller, 82, of Lake of the Forest in Bonner Springs, will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at the Lake of the Forest Clubhouse.
Dr. Miller died Monday, June 1, 2009, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
He was born July 7, 1926, the son of Everett and Sara Miller, who farmed in Burlington Junction, Mo.
He attended a one-room school through the age of 12. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, attended Northwest Missouri State University and graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1950.
Dr. Miller established a dental practice in Bonner Springs, retiring in 1990. He served the community and was active in various civic organizations including as president of the Jaycees, on the board of Commercial State Bank, Bonner Springs-Edwardsville USD 204 School Board, president of Kansas State District No. 1 Dental Society and president of the Wyandotte County Dental Society, Masons, senior warden on the Vestry at St. Martin In-The-Fields Episcopal Church, and was a 15-year member of the City of Bonner Springs Planning Board. He loved sharing his vacation homes at Lake of the Ozarks and, later in the Grand Cayman Islands, British West Indies, with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Miller, of the home; their children and spouses, Marie and James P. Kelly, New York, N.Y.; Marcia and Thomas Lage, North Kansas City, Mo.; Bill and Shelly Miller, Bonner Springs; and eight grandchildren.
The family suggests donations to St. Martin In-The-Fields Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 13012, Edwardsville, KS 66113.
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs, is handling arrangements.
