Michael Zelesnak

Funeral Mass for Michael G. Zeleznak, 86, Overland Park, was Thursday, April 30, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Roeland Park. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa.
Mr. Zeleznak died Monday, April 27, 2009.
Mike was born on Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Croatian immigrants. He starred in several sports at Ward High School and in football at Kansas State University.
He was a World War II veteran, serving as captain with the 1271st Engineering Combat Battalion in Europe. He worked for HNTB Consulting Engineers for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patricia; five children, Mary (Henry), Denver, Mike (Karen), Topeka, Karen (Jim), St. Paul, Minn., Kathy (Mike), Belton, Mo., and Jim (Jennifer), San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to St. Agnes Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation, sent in care of Amos Family Funeral Chapel, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203.
