Steven Anderson

Services for Steven Robert Anderson, 62, Bennington, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa.
Mr. Anderson died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
He is the son of Bob and Parma Anderson and was raised in Wichita. He graduated from Emporia State University.
A mainframe computer programmer and information systems specialist, most of Mr. Anderson’s career was spent with Best Buy Co. in Minnesota. His work there led to his promotion to senior vice president/chief information officer. He won the RITA, Interactive Summit and Smithsonian awards. He later was chief information officer of Paper Warehouse, Minnesota, and went on to Target Corporation, Salina. He recently retired to a hobby farm in Bennington to be closer to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Peggy (Skwarlo) Anderson; two children, Steven “Andy,” Denver; and Julie Banninger (husband Chris), Salina; two grandchildren; a brother, Rick Anderson, Haysville; and a sister, Parma Sue McCaffree, Valley Center.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association, sent in care of the funeral chapel, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66012.
