Bernard Oelschlaeger

Services for Bernard “Bernie” Oelschlaeger, 77, Paola, formerly of Tonganoxie, were Saturday, Aug. 7, at Alden-Harrington Funeral, Bonner Springs. Burial was private.
Mr. Oelschlaeger died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010.
He was born Oct. 10, 1932, at his family’s farm in rural Tonganoxie, the son of Daniel and Henrietta (Scheller) Oelschlaeger.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army serving in postwar Germany. Upon returning from the service he worked as a farmer and did various odd jobs in Leavenworth County before relocating to Paola.
Survivors include three brothers Richard (Helen) Oelschlaeger, Basehor, Orville (Rosalie) Oelschlaeger, Tonganoxie, and Everett (Carol) Oelschlaeger, Tonganoxie; and a sister, Anetta (Bob) Parsons, Shawnee.
The family suggests memorials to the Elizabeth Layton Center, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
