Iva Lutjen

Services for Iva Ann Lutjen, 75, Merriam, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Hope Lutheran Church, Shawnee.
Mrs. Lutjen died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010.
She was born in 1934 in St. Charles, Va., the daughter of Starling and Kate West.
Mrs. Lutjen was active in the American Legion and served as a past president and department president from 1997 to 1998. She volunteered at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Leavenworth and established a clothing room and enjoyed watching it grow into an entire house of operation. In July, she was recognized for her efforts when the house was dedicated to her and was renamed “Annie’s Closet.”
Her husband, Alvin Lutjen, died earlier.
Survivors include two sisters, Evelyn Rhodes (Ed), Bowden, W.Va., and Jean DeSeure, Kansas City, Kan.
