Lois Surbaugh
Funeral Mass for Lois Eloise (Hutley) Surbaugh, 85, of Bonner Springs, will be 10 a.m. Friday Dec. 3, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Shawnee. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Surbaugh died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Maple Hill, the daughter of Frank T. and Myrtle (Huntsman) Hutley.
Lois worked for Berkel and Company Contractors for 28 years as the corporate secretary, retiring in 1990. She continued to serve on the company’s board of directors until her death.
Mrs. Surbaugh was a lady commander with star in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
She married Ray Surbaugh on June 3, 1947, in Emmett, and together they lived in Topeka before moving to Bonner Springs in 1963.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Surbaugh, of the home; a daughter, Kathy (Keith) Bach, Basehor; a granddaughter; and a sister, Agnes (John) Martin, Emmett.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Building Fund, 5501 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS 66226.
