Jessie “Jess” Crane
Graveside services with military honors for Jessie “Jess” LaVern Crane, 74, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at National Cemetery in Leavenworth.
Mr. Crane died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, surrounded by family at his home.
He was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Cedar County, Mo., the son of Herman and Mary (Bland) Crane. He had worked for 40 years at CertainTeed Manufacturing in Fairfax, where he was a power equipment operator and union activist.
Mr. Crane had served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley Maxine Crane, of the home; a daughter, Carol Knight, and her husband, George, Bonner Springs; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Crane, Kansas City, Kan.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs.
