Ann Schierts

Services for Ann Elizabeth Schierts, 44, of Shawnee, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Monticello Road and Johnson Drive, Shawnee. Private burial will follow.
Mrs. Schierts died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born May 31, 1966, in Ridgewood, N.J., the daughter of John and Glendore McLaughlin.
Mrs. Schierts was a graduate of Satellite High School in 1984 and of the University of North Florida in 1994. She volunteered her time at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and School. In addition, she was a committee member of the American Cancer Society Kaw Valley Relay for Life since its inception. Ann was diagnosed with cancer in 2002 while pregnant with her second daughter.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Hal Schierts, of the home; two daughters, Zoe and Grace, the home; her parents, Longmont, Colo.; three brothers Mark, Timothy and Peter McLaughlin; and a host of other family and friends.
Friends may call at the visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the church, where a rosary service will be at 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund, sent in care of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS, 66012.
