Margaret Gallagher

Services for Margaret Irene Gallagher, 97, Tonganoxie, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Tonganoxie Christian Church.
Visitation will begin one hour before the service at the church.
Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
Mrs. Gallagher died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
She was born Dec. 29, 1912, in Fairmount, the daughter of Ben and Sarah (Allen) Jeffries. She was a 1930 graduate of Tonganoxie High School. She was united in marriage to Harry Gallagher on July 27, 1931, in Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Gallagher worked as a journalist for the Tonganoxie Mirror, The Leavenworth Times and The Lawrence Journal-World. She was a community reporter for Lawrence radio station KLWN, from a remote microphone in her home. She was a lifetime member of Tonganoxie Christian Church, an active member of the Tonganoxie Community Historical Society and other social organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; son, James; sister, Edythe; granddaughter, Carolyn Short and her only nephew, Raymond Jones.
Survivors include three sons, Harry (Karen), Jefferson City, Mo., Robert, Cincinnati and Larry (Donna) Gallagher, Tonganoxie; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.
