William Goff

Funeral service for William L.E. “Bill” Goff, 86, Eudora, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary–Eudora Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Eudora Cemetery.
Mr. Goff died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Medicalodges in Eudora.
He was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Batesville, Ark., the son of Jennings and Tiney Rosenbaum Goff.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II as a gunner and later as bodyguard for a general. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands.
He and his wife moved to Eudora in 1951 from Arkansas. He was then employed at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in the water supply department. He later was a supervisor in the power house at the E.I. DuPont Company cellophane plant in Tecumseh. He retired in 1984.
Mr. Goff was a member of the American Water Works Association and the City of Eudora Board of Appeals. He was also a 50-year member of the Eudora Lions Club.
He married Helen W. Staggs on June 24, 1945, in Batesville. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Donnie “Don,” rural Perry, and Bradley “Brad,” Eudora; one sister, Rosa Lee Leonard, Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Charles D., Batesville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
