Dolores Finley
Funeral Mass for Dolores M. Finley, 85, Bonner Springs, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawnee. Burial will be at Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Finley died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
She was born Nov. 19, 1925, in New York, New York.
On Aug. 26, 1945, she married a Navy sailor, Jim Finley, and they moved to the Bonner Springs area in 1951 to raise their family.
Through the years Mrs. Finley briefly worked at Kreigels Jewelry, Bonner Springs City Hall and Savior of the World Seminary. Then she was able to start baby-sitting her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, gardening and being active in her church, serving in the Altar Society. She was in the same Bridge Club for 50 years.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Jim Finley, of the home; five children, Carol Bristow, Leavenworth, Jim “Bub” Finley, Bonner Springs, Linda McDonough, Overland Park, Mark Finley, Kansas City, Kan., and Michael Finley, Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary, Patsy, Kathleen and Jeanne.
Friends may call at the visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the church, where there will be a Rosary service at 9:30 a.m.
