Lorraine Dixon

Services for Lorraine L. Dixon, 76, Shawnee, were Monday, Nov. 28, at Amos Family Funeral Home, Shawnee. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Shawnee.
Mrs. Dixon died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011.
She was born June 28, 1935, in Humeston, Iowa.
During her childhood, she lived in Liberty Center, Spirit Lake and Indianola, Iowa, where she graduated high school. She received her bachelor’s degree from Simpson College in Indianola.
Mrs. Dixon worked as a legal secretary in Des Moines, Iowa, until 1969, when she was able to give her time to caring for her family. She remained active in her Alpha Chi Omega alumni club, raising money and awareness in the fight against childhood cystic fibrosis.
After the family relocated to Shawnee, in 1981, she returned to work as a legal secretary in 1982, working for attorney Joe B. Vise in Shawnee until she retired in 1999.
She married Doyle Dixon in 1958. He died in October 2010.
Survivors include her sister, Maurine Stone, of Des Moines; two daughters, Laurie Dixon (Lynn Beatty), Grain Valley, Mo., and Jennifer Dixon (Teree Guynn), Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Kevin Dixon (Jane), Lawrence; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203.
