John Jones
Services for John P. Jones, 88, Wiggins, Colo., will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Wild Horse Cemetery near McLouth.
Inurnment also will be at Wild Horse Cemetery.
Mr. Jones, 88, Wiggins, Colo., died June 11, 2011, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center, Fort Morgan, Colo.
He was born April 19, 1923, near McLouth, to Alfred and Olive Jones. He attended the Wild Horse Rural School and graduated from McLouth Rural High School in 1942.
He married Mary Virginia Heywood on March 28, 1948, in the Stanwood Friends Church. The family moved to Wiggins, Colo., in 1960, where he continued in the meat cutting trade.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, Wiggins, Colo.; daughter, Mary Ellen Mercer, Wiggins, Colo.; sons, Tom and Tim, both of Wiggins, Colo.; son, Ed (Luanne) Jones, Sugarland, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hildred Stockwell of Hoyt, and Viola Edmonds and Alfreda (Bob) Ryan, both of McLouth; and sister-in-law Margaret (Lloyd) Smelser, McLouth; and many nieces and nephews.
Services and visitation took place June 15 at Wiggins Community Church.
Sunday’s service and inurnment will follow the annual homecoming at the Stanwood Friends Church.
