Ruth Bell

Services for Ruth (Curran) Bell, 91, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Shawnee.
Mrs. Bell died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012.
She was born on March 25, 1920. Mrs. Bell was the first drum major at Shawnee Mission High School. In the 1950s, she read water meters in Mission.
She had three children by her first husband, Merle Curran. A son, Michael Curran, and two grandsons preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Curran) Harrison and Cassandra (Curran) Harrison; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Davis, Vivian Brownell and Elva June Wager-Smith.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at the funeral chapel.
The family suggests memorials to Kansas City Hospice sent in care of the funeral chapel, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203.
