Blanche Caldwell
Blanche Caldwell, 95, Overland Park, KS (formerly of Russell, KS) passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at the Bickford Assisted Living, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be 9-10:30 am Friday, Jan. 20 followed by funeral services at 10:30 am. at the Shawnee United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be 3:30 pm, Friday at the Russell City Cemetery, Russell, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 221 N. Maple St., Russell, KS 67665.
Blanche was born Nov. 30, 1916 in Chanute, KS to Samuel J. and Emily J. Beamer. She attended school in Enid, Oklahoma, graduating in 1934. She attended Oklahoma University for two years. After her marriage and the birth of her daughters, she went back to college graduating from Fort Hays State University. She received a Master’s degree and continued her education until she retired from teaching school in 1985.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, James “Shag” Hunter Caldwell in 1993. She is survived by her two daughters, Margaret (Charlie) Willson, Shawnee, KS and Jeanne Hoffman, Great Bend, KS; five grandchildren, Nanci Willson, Ottawa, KS, Dustin Hoffman, Smyrna, TN, Wade Willson, Olathe, KS, Amy Hamilton, Spring Hill, KS and Heidi Byers, Olathe, KS and nine great grandchildren.
