Paul Ellis
Paul William Ellis, age 65, of Baldwin City, KS passed away March 9, 2015. He was born December 1, 1949 in Nevada, Missouri, the son of James Thomas Ellis and Lucille Irene (Newell) Ellis.
Paul moved to Baldwin City, KS as an infant. He graduated from Baldwin City High School with the class of 1967. For 25 years, he worked for the K-Mart Distribution Center in Lawrence, KS in the security department. He also worked as a butcher at Baldwin IGA for several years.
Paul was a charter member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Baldwin City. He was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America for several years, a member of the Baldwin City Jaycees, and a volunteer firefighter.
Paul enjoyed many hobbies. He loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables. He was a collector of coins, marbles and pocket knives. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking. He liked caring for his calves, pigs, chickens, dogs and cats. He was a reader and loved watching western movies. Each year you could find him attending the Vinland Fair as well as the Maple Leaf Festival, of which he never missed one.
Paul was united in marriage to Terri Elaine Kepple on July 25, 1969 at the Vinland Church of Christ. He was a loving husband and provider. She survives of the home.
Paul is also survived by three sons, Shawn Ellis and wife, Jo, Baldwin City, Ryan Ellis, Kansas City, MO, and Jason Ellis and wife, Rebecca, Baldwin City; three granddaughters, MacKenzie Ellis, Paige Ellis and Isla Ellis, all of Baldwin City; a sister, Laura Barron, Sumpter, South Carolina; a brother, James “Jim” Ellis, Alexandria, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Cecil Ellis.
Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, Baldwin City. Family will greet friends after the service at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
