Meriam Bell
Meriam “Marjorie” Bell, 97, formerly of Baldwin City, KS passed away January 12, 2015, at the Wellsville Retirement Community in Wellsville, KS. Marjorie was born July 13, 1917 in Rural Douglas County, KS, the daughter of Edwin Pardee and Hattie Belle (Shotwell) Bell.
Marjorie graduated from Baldwin High School with the class of 1936. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a farmer’s wife, a mother and grandmother. An active woman, she gardened, fished, golfed, and was an avid Bridge player. She was known to be quite feisty.
Mrs. Bell was a member of First United Methodist Church, Evangeline Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Philanatheon Club, and Black Jack Ladies Club.
Marjorie was united in marriage with Clyde Kenneth Bell on July 7, 1937 in Nebraska City, NE. He passed away May 10, 1980. She later married Courtney Quayle Wilcox in 1984, he preceded her in 1987.
Marjorie is also preceded by her parents; her son Timothy J. Bell; two brothers Donald and Nelson Pardee; and four sisters Gladys M. Fast, Mildred Michener, Gwendalyn Nanschwen and Helen Storum.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ann Billet of Baldwin City, KS; two granddaughters, Jennifer Brooke Billet and Kimberly Long; and six great-grandchildren, Kelly Wild, Casey Long, Ashlyn Bell Schwartz, Soledad, Wesley and Eisley Edison.
A private family Graveside and Inurnment will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin.
